Dear Tanya, I’d like to acknowledge your role in building the base for Prakriti’s journey as a journalist and her taking a step towards it.

Thank you for her amazing internship with you back in 2020 as a high schooler. I’m happy to share that today, she’s been appointed editor-in-chief of her college newspaper – The Ithacan ( one of the best college newspapers in the US). Thank you for being there for her foundation years.

It was an internship stint with you back in 2020 that planted the seed of journalism in her, and she made it through Ithaca College, New York, on a full tuition scholarship in 2022.

Each time we look back at her journey, we see the impact you had and the opportunities you gave her to thrive as an intern reporter. At that point in time, she was on the cusp of choosing a career path, and your input and exposure helped her think and consider journalism, where she could align her writing skills and even monetise them (her words😊).

She carried what she learned and still uses it to build her skill sets. Thanks for being there and present as one of her biggest cheerleaders!

Breaking Barriers Through Words: Overcoming the Phobia of Writing

Dr Sunita Rajani Testimonial for The Write Compass
Unlocking one’s potential, one word at a time!

Dr Sunita was recommended by a wonderful lady, Dr Nita Jagad, a senior paediatrician in Mumbai. I launched my writing mentorship course in 2017 with Dr Sunita Rajani, a practising paediatrician based in the UK. She was keen to learn, and I was eager to pass on my knowledge to someone. Being in the medical profession, she’s had to write medical documents, research papers, and case studies, and this mentorship program was just what she needed.

Despite the time difference, we embarked on a writing mentorship journey in August 2017.

Such a wonderful person, Dr. Sunita had so many stories to share of her travel adventures, but she was held back owing to a phobia/ fear of writing, of not being good enough, and of what people would think of her writing skills.

So we started learning. Our mentorship journey started with simple yet effective tools that helped her harness her thoughts and streamline them with structured brainstorming techniques and mind mapping.

We started with simple and easy topics and gradually moved to topics that challenged her out of her comfort zone.

Well, little did we know, one little story at a time, Dr Sunita’s innate writing skills shone brightly. She started with her first story on solo travelling in Europe, to Cow’s Milk Protein Allergy, travel stories from Kashmir, Nako and Croatia.

When we published her best assignments, I knew I had embarked on the right journey.
